Maretha Gail Wilson Clayton, 71, of Waddy, KY (formerly of Russell County) died Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at her residence. She was born September 28, 1947 in Russell County to the late Herbert & Elva Meece Wilson.
 
She was a retired employee of General Electric.
 
In additon to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband: S.B. Clayton; 4 brothers: Loys, Louis, Wilkie, & Harold Wilson; 4 sisters: Viola Weddle, Edna Weddle, Gradys Martin, & Lynr Smiley.

JIMMIE TODD ROGERS, 84, LOUISVILLE (ADAIR CO. NATIVE)

 
Jimmie Todd Rogers, 84, of Louisville, KY died Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Rockford Manor Nursing Facility in Louisville. He was born June 2, 1935 in Adair County, KY to the late Coy and Lois Smith Rogers.
 
Mr. Rogers was a U.S. Army Veteran, and a certified Master Electrician employed by Mose Frank Plumbing, Heating and Air for 50 years. 
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Carson Rogers.

2 sisters: Hilda Sue Speck of Elizabethtown and Jane Carol Coomer of Louisville

CALVIN COOLEY, 90, COLUMBIA

 
Calvin Christie Cooley, 90, of Columbia, KY died Saturday, September 28, 2019 at his home. He was born November 12, 1928 in Adair County to the late Elbert Alben & Rebecca “Becky” Brockman Cooley. 
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Frank Kologinczak, two brothers, Guinn Cooley & William “Bill” Cooley, and two sisters, Irene Heitkamp & Mary Cooley.  
 
He was a member of Egypt Christian Church, a retired heavy machinery operator for the Kentucky State Highway Department and a farmer.

DAYMON SALLEE, 79, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Daymon A. Sallee, 79, son of the late William Authur and Mary Anna (Murell) Sallee, was born on May 11, 1940. He departed this life on September 28, 2019 at his home after an extended illness. 
 
Daymon was a retiree of General Electric in Louisville and was a former volunteer firefighter for the Campbellsville/Taylor County Fire District. Mr. Sallee had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. He believed in the greater good of serving others and was a longtime volunteer for Toys For Tots and was a member of the Taylor County Fair Board. He had served his country honorably in the United States Army and was a current member of the American Legion Post 82.
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Sue (Sidebottom) Sallee in 2005; one son, Christopher Sallee in 2017; and seven siblings, Athol Milby, Willaim Edward Sallee, Maurice Jean Sallee, Jewell Dean Cox, Delores Belle Sallee, Logan Ray Sallee, and Lora Mae Dudgeon.

William "Bill" C. Cowan, 75, of Louisville, KY (formerly of Columbia, KY) passed away Thursday, September 26, 2019 at his home.  
 
He retired from Phillip Morris in 1998. Bill was an avid sportsman and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at Green River Lake.
 
Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Darlene Cowan, a step-son, Jamie Logsdon, and 9 siblings.

Larry Ben Wesley, 75, of the Argyle community in Casey County, KY passed away Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville, KY.

GALEDON ROSCOE HUNT, 67, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Galedon Roscoe Hunt, 67, son of the late Welburn and Ophia (Spurling) Hunt, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at his home after a sudden illness. 
 
He was raised in the Mt. Gilboa Baptist Church, and later attended the Saloma Baptist Church with his wife as his health allowed. He was a retired employee of the City of Campbellsville, having worked many years driving a truck for the sanitation department. He didn’t simply overcome physical hardships – he truly enjoyed working. His ready smile and genuine heart will be dearly missed.
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Donna Mendoza.

Carolyn Callison Pruitt, 79, of Campbellsville, KY passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2019. She was born September 19, 1940 in Adair County, KY to the late George B. Callison and Marjorie Hancock Callison.
 
Carolyn had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Pruitt was employed as a secretary for many years and enjoyed canning, cooking and spending time with family.
 
She united in marriage to Bobby “Bill” Pruitt on July 4, 1958, who survives.

William Mark Greathouse, 72, of Franklin, Tennessee passed away on Monday, September 23, 2019 in Franklin, TN 

after battling pancreatic cancer for a year. He was born to William M. and Ruth N. Greathouse, who preceded him in death. 

 

Mark attended Isaac Litton High School and Trevecca Nazarene College, where he met Jan Milby, whom he married in 1967.

CELYSTINE BAKER, 73, COLUMBIA

 
Celystine Baker, 73, of Columbia, KY died Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at T.J. Samson Hospital. Born in Breeding, KY she was the daughter of the late Porter and Sophie Furkin Stotts and wife of the late Lawrence Odell Baker.
 
Mrs. Baker was a member of the Wells Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, a former employee of Oshkosh in Columbia and caretaker for her husband Odell for many years before he preceded her in 2017.  She loved flower gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
 
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren: Britney Burris and Joshua Moss; 2 brothers: Bobby and Porter Stotts Jr., and 1 sister: Minnie Marie Stotts.

BEATRICE MARCUM, 95, COLUMBIA

 
Beatrice Caven Marcum, 95, of Columbia, KY (formerly of Greensburg) passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at TJ Health Columbia. She was a daughter of the late Parrish Caven and Mamie Wright Caven, and was born March 10, 1924 in Green County, KY. 
Beatrice had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Summersville Church of the Nazarene. She was retired from the Fruit of the Loom as an Examiner and also retired from babysitting. She continued to enjoy cooking for her family and friends.
 
She united in marriage to Moss Marcum on May 30, 1940 who preceded her in death on October 24, 2014.

Pamela Denise (Hunt) Bright, 62, of Campbellsville, KY was born on December 29, 1956 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Garland & Marjorie (Bohanon) Hunt. She departed this life on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville, KY after an extended illness. 
 
Pam had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. She had worked in retail sales and was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom. She cherished her family and rarely missed an opportunity to go shopping for them. Her giving heart meant that Christmas shopping wasn’t limited to one season – it was usually a year-long event.
 
She was also preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Addison.

John C. Bray, 98, of Burkesville, KY passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Cumberland County Hospital. John was born in Lafayette, Macon County, TN on March 21, 1921 to the late John Denton Bray and Rosie Effie Doss Bray.  
 
He was a former dairy farmer and employee of R.N. Thompson Construction Co.  
 
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Emma Jean Bray and his second wife Leona Bray, six brothers, James Abe Bray, Carlos Ray Bray, Roy Edward Bray, Jessie Smith Bray, Silas Hilbert Bray, and Aubrey G. Bray, and one sister, Beatrice Hughes.

Bernadene Cox, 97, of Franklin, IN (formerly of Columbia, KY) died Monday, September 23, 2019 at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin, IN.  Born in Adair County, she was the daughter of the late John O. and Ida Mae Gentry Brockman and the wife of the late Robert Henry Cox. 
 
Mrs. Cox was a member of the Free Union Separate Baptist Church.
 
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 3 children: Donald Cox, Phyllis Bryant and Robert Edward Cox.

JOHNNIE LEE VENTERS, 70, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Johnnie Lee Venters, 70, of Campbellsville, KY was born in McLeansboro, Illinois on November 3, 1948 to Thelma (Atteberry) and the late Clarence Hershel Venters. He departed this life on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at the Louisville VA Medical Center. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Whites Ridge General Baptist Church.
 
Mr. Venters had an unassuming demeanor and a kind and helpful spirit, and carried himself with an earned confidence. He served his country honorably in the United States Army, and retired after 20 years of service. When he wasn’t trying to help someone, he spent most of his free time in the woods or on the lake.
 
He was also preceded in death by an infant brother, William Walter Venters , in 1954.

AARON VINCENT, 70, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 

Aaron B. “Ernie” Vincent, 70, of Campbellsville, KY passed peacefully from this life on Monday, September 23, 2019 at the Grandview Nursing and Rehab Facility. He was born in Bowling Green on Decmber 27, 1948 to the late Rev. Stanley R. and Christine (Wilson) Vincent.
 
Aaron had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Vincent was a former employee of Bando USA in Bowling Green. He spent most of his spare time riding his motorcycle, golfing, hunting, or any other activity that allowed him to be outside.
 
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Arletia Rucker, in 2018; and a great-nephew, Luke Aaron Sexton, in 2010.

PATSY ALICE DEAN, 65, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Patsy Alice Dean, 65, of Campbellsville, KY was born December 29th, 1953 in Sebring, Highlands County, FL. She departed this life on Saturday, September 21, 2019 in Campbellsville. She was the youngest daughter born to the late Hubert Earl Morris and Vera (Devane-Morris) Collins.
 
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Shania Page James; a special longtime friend, Sheryl Skinner; and a special great grandchild, Kyelynn Rain Yazzie; and three sisters, Judy Morris Maness, Mary Morris Yates, and Gwenda Morris Hitch.
 
Mrs. Dean had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Buffalo Church of the Nazarene, and enjoyed watching TV and playing on her tablet while spending time with her fur baby Charlie.

Jerry Williams, 84, of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late C.M. Williams and Lera Morrison Williams, was born March 29, 1935 in Taylor County, KY. He died at 2:55 A.M., Saturday, September 21, 2019 in Campbellsville.        
 
He professed faith in Christ and was of the Methodist faith. Jerry was a member of the Pitman Masonic Lodge #124 F&AM for some 58 years. He was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom and was also a farmer. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and being outdoors.
 
He united in marriage to Zola Gupton March 14, 1955. She preceded him in death May 18, 1974. He later united in marriage to Katherine Pollard March 28, 1981.
 
Besides his wife, Katherine Pollard Williams of Campbellsville, he is survived by one son, Jay Williams and wife, Melissa of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; one step-daughter, Deeanna Reeder of Columbia; one step-son, Robert Hamlett of Campbellsville; two grandchildren: Nicholas Ryan Williams and Victoria Lera Williams; five step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; three sisters: Eloise Elmore, Clara Newton and Anna Williams of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Tucker had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Living Word Faith Center. She exuded cheerfulness into most situations. That quality that served her well as an in home caregiver, or when she was just bargain hunting at yard sales. She loved spending time with people she loved, and made countless precious memories with her family.

IVA NELL SIDEBOTTOM MCDONALD, 87, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Iva Nell Sidebottom McDonald, 87, of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late James Ezra Wilcoxson and Izia Lee Goff Wilcoxson, was born July 5, 1932 in Taylor County, KY.  She died at 2:45 P.M., Wednesday, September 18, 2019 in Louisville.  
 
Iva Nell professed faith in Christ and was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was a previous member of Liberty Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she was active in the Choir for most of her life. She loved her flowers and in the past, had enjoyed cooking, sewing, bowling on mixed leagues, and gardening. Iva Nell worked at Union Underwear for 35 years.
 
She united in marriage to Ernest Sidebottom December 24, 1948 and he preceded her in death May 5, 1999. She later united in marriage to Quilley McDonald November 17, 2007.
 
SURVIVORS: Husband: Quilley McDonald of Campbellsville; 1 daughter & son-in-law: Vicki & Bob Schlenk of Louisville, and their children, Pattie Scheurich & Paul Schlenk and their granddaughter, Allie Scheurich; 2 step-sons: Gregory McDonald & wife Shannon of Campbellsville, and DeWayne McDonald & wife Angela of Lebanon; 6 step-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; 2 special nieces: Wendy Pickett & husband Ryan of Greensburg, Jackie Quinn of Columbia; 1 brother, Mike Wilcoxson of Lancaster; several nieces & nephews and many other relatives & friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Harvey. After his death, she married Frank Keith, who also preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Felisha Burton.

Ruth Quisenberry, 88, of Lexington, KY, formerly of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Charlie Wingler and Mary Louvenia Farmer Wingler, was born February 24, 1931 in Taylor County, KY. She died at 4:25 P.M., Tuesday, September 17, 2019 in Lexington.   
 
Ruth professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Meadowview Baptist Church.
 
She united in marriage to David L. Quisenberry March 28, 1948 and he preceded her in death April 16, 2008. She was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters: Roy Wingler, Cora McNeil and Clyde Berry and a brother and sister in infancy: Chester Wingler and Eva Wingler.

Joseph Wayne “Joe” Fair, 57, of Mannsville, KY departed this life on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at his home after a battle with cancer. He was born on July 29, 1962 to the late Rufus and Ella Marie (Wethington) Fair.
 
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Mannsville Methodist Church. Mr. Fair was a licensed HVAC installer and an employee of Keltner Contracting in Campbellsville. He loved helping people and took a genuine interest in their well-being. His faith in God and sincere, heartfelt kindness was exemplified in the care he took and the unfettered favors he did.
 
He was also preceded in death by a childhood sister, Debbie Gail Fair.

David E. Dudgeon, 68, of Campbellsville, KY, son of Frances Brown Dudgeon and the late William Edwin Dudgeon, was born September 22, 1950 in Taylor County, KY. He died at 6:55 A.M., Sunday, September 8, 2019 in Elizabethtown. 
 
He served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Expert Rifle Badge. David was self-employed as owner and operator of David’s Auto Sales. Favorite hobbies of David’s was collecting and working on cars. He also enjoyed going to stock car races and was always picking on those he liked.
 
He united in marriage to Jane Sluder July 31, 1971.

Carol Ann Browning Lawless, 61, of Russell Springs, KY passed from this life on Monday, September 9, 2019 at her residence after an extended illness. She was born on May 21, 1958 in Versailles, Indiana, daughter of the late William Samuel “Bill” Browning and Marilyn Meisberger Browning.  
 
Carol was a loving, kind and wonderful caregiver to others, and was always willing to help anyone in need.  She enjoyed her flowers, gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her radiant smile and compassionate spirit. 
 
She was married on October 19, 1984 to Carson R. Lawless and they have enjoyed 34 years of life together.  Carol was a Christian and of the Baptist Faith.

Lula Reed Cheatham, 85, of Columbia, KY died Monday, September 9, 2019 at Summit Manor Nursing Home. Born in Leslie County, KY she was the daughter of the late Robert Boyd and Abby Napier Reed and wife of the late Joe Wallace Cheatham.
 
Mrs. Cheatham was a member of the Columbia United Methodist Church and the Retired Teachers Association.  She was a graduate of Lindsey Wilson College, Campbellsville University and Western Kentucky University.  She was a retired teacher at Colonel William Casey Elementary School, loved cooking and spending time with her family.
 
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Cheatham; a sister, Eula Goodin; 5 brothers: Ray, Roy, George, Ross and Russell Reed; 2 great grandchildren: Veronica and Alexandria Hayes; and 2 nephews Earnest Reed and John Steven Goodin.

Army, a Boy Scout Leader and Eagle Scout.  He was a member of the Youngsville, NY Fire Department serving as Assistant Chief and was a former owner and operator of a Refrigeration Sales & Service business in the Youngsville, NY and Columbia, KY areas.

Thomas Richard Wimsatt, 78, of Clarkson, KY, son of the late Harlen Wimsatt and Mildred Thompson Enold, was born on Thursday, May 15, 1941 in Mt. Carmel, Illinois and departed this life on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Norton's Hospital in Louisville. 
 
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a veteran of the Navy. He was also a retired Material Handler for General Electric Company.

Betty-Lou Wethington, 83, of Columbia, KY passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Campbellsville. Born on October 4, 1935 in Providence, Rhode Island, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Gordon and Muriel Frizinger Regan. 

 
Betty-Lou was a retired registered nurse with over 30 years of service with the VA Hospital in Louisville. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and was very active in various organizations throughout Casey County. Betty-Lou was a member of the Casey County Homemakers and the Casey County Red Hat Society, which she was a founding member. She also loved her flowers and gardening. Betty-Lou was a strong advocate for Veterans.

William “David” Loy, 74, of La Grange, KY died Tuesday, September 3, 2019. He was born May 9, 1945 in Fairplay, KY, son of the late Robert Elmer and Nola Brummett Loy.
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 sisters: Kathleen Buchanan, Evalee Churchill, Sophia Wheelock, and Vickie Green, and by 5 brothers: Dellous Loy, Junior Loy, Clifton Loy, Johnny Loy & Wesley Loy.
 
David’s career took him to Michigan, King-Seely Corp., New Mexico working atop oil rigs, operating heavy equipment on the construction of KY Green River Reservoir, & building Gene Snyder freeway. He retired from Ford KY Truck Plant in 2001 after 32 years’ service. After retirement, David & Linda became “Snowbirds” in Florida, where he became everyone’s favorite neighbor & he could finally fish as much as he wanted, even once pulling a 12 ft. gator out of his dock. David was happiest in the woods digging ginseng. He grew BIG gardens, enjoyed fishing, hunting & LOVED to travel. But… he was best known for practical jokes, telling tall-tales and his generosity to those he knew, and didn’t know, alike.

Barbara J. Hall, 78, of Science Hill, KY passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY. She was born on January 29, 1941, in Cincinnati, OH daughter of the late Rev. Albert Allen Farris and Marion Leigh Farris.
 
Barbara attended the Science Hill Schools and was married on July 4, 1956 in Summerville, KY to her husband Leland. They have enjoyed over 63 years of life together. Barbara was a loving, kind and compassionate person who loved being in the sun, and spending time with her family and friends. Her greatest joy was being a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Barbara had an outgoing personality and was considered a “people person”, she will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her. She was of the Christian Faith and a member of the Bridge Community Fellowship.

Judy A. Miller, 72, of Jamestown, KY passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at her home. Judy was born in Columbia, KY on November 8, 1946 a daughter of the late Floy (Burris) and Everett S. VanArsdale.
 
She was a member of Creelsboro Christian Church for 30 plus years. She was Secretary, Treasure, Sunday School Teacher as well as Song Leader for many years.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son: Troy Miller, 1 brother: Paul VanArsdale and 3 sisters: Rena Carter, Lou Keltner, and Donna Bivens.

Shirley Ann Overstreet, 75, the daughter of the late Wilbert Brint “Wilb” and Elsie (Delk) Helm, was born Sunday, June 18, 1944 in Mannsville, KY and departed this life on Monday, September 2, 2019 at 6:10 A.M. at her residence in Bradfordsville, KY. 
 
She was a former employee of Jane & Linda’s Sportswear, Cedars of Lebanon Nursing Home; a flower designer, a homemaker and was of the Pentecostal Faith. Shirley Ann enjoyed the outdoors, sewing and going out to eat.
 
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother: Hartince “Tiny” Gore, Helen Bernice Lowery and Auburn Helm.

Wanda Lavern Smith, 87, of Amelia, Ohio (formerly of Crestview, KY) passed away Friday, August 30, 2019 at her residence.
 
She was a devout Christian, wonderful wife (just shy of 66 years), mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She grew up in Huntsville Ky, was a teacher in a 1-room house, went to work and later retired from the IRS as a Manager. She loved to travel, play cards and spend time with her family. 
 
Wanda was preceded in death by a brother, Denzel Mefford and 2 sisters, Duprey Benton & Evalee Askew.

BETTY HILL, 83, RUSSELL SPRINGS

 
Betty Ruth Hill, 83, of Russell Springs, KY died peacefully at her home surrounded by her children on Saturday, August 31, 2019 after a brief illness. She was born and raised in Jamestown, KY.
 
Betty attended high school at Berea College then lived in Ohio for 30 years where she was active in her children's lives and in the community. She was a nurse at Parkwood Elementary, a Cub Scout den mother, helped with Girl Scout outings and was a frequent volunteer for the 1880s-themed events at Carriage Hill Farm.
 
Betty returned to the Russell County area in 1985 where she became involved with Russell County Hospital Auxiliary, serving for 34 years in various positions. She donated her time teaching a sewing and quilting class at the Jamestown Library for several years and was a long standing member of the Jamestown United Methodist Church. Betty loved quilting, socializing, camping, classic country music and dancing, and had a smile that could light up a room.
 
She was preceded in death by her mother, Olza Mae Stearns and her beloved life partner, Jimmy Douglas Johnson.

4 Children: Ed Hill (LeAnn) of Fairborn, Ohio; Sandy Ledbetter of Fairborn, Ohio; Gary Hill (Valerie) of Vandalia, Ohio; Nancy Evans (Rob) of Xenia, Ohio

Anna Lois Elmore, 82, of Columbia, KY died Sunday, September 1, 2019 at Summit Manor Nursing Home. Born in Union County, KY she was the daughter of the late Fred W. and Anna Pearl Corbett Blackburn.  
 
Anna was a former employee of Mallory’s in Glasgow, KY, loved dogs and spending time with her family.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Walter Alex Blackburn and a sister, Betty Tucker.

Veleria Edna (Colson) Davis, 86, of Burkesville, KY passed away on Friday, August 30, 2019 at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, KY.  She was born in Celina, Tennessee on December 4, 1932 the daughter of Jimmy and Myrtle (Watson) Colson. 
 
She was of Church of Christ faith, a member of Christian Chapel Church of Christ, and a homemaker. 
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Johnny Colson, and infant brothers and sisters.

CHARLES EDWARD SHAW, 66, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Charles Edward "Chuck" Shaw, 66, of Campbellsville, KY passed from this life on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at his home. He was born in Franklin, Indiana on October 31, 1952 to the late Wil Edward and Dorothy Jean (Helms) Shaw.
 
Charles had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of White's Ridge Missionary Baptist Church. He spent the majority of his life in service to his country, and was honorably retired from the United States Army as a Sergeant First Class. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion.
 
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Ray Shaw, and a grandson, Terry Brad Shaw.
