Linda Young, 79, of Burkesville, KY passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at her home. She was born on June 30, 1941 in Adair County, KY to the late Garon and Bertha Rogers Coffey. 
 
Linda was a member of Highland Chapel United Methodist Church and a retired employee of Bob Evans Apparel. 
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Clayton Young and her son-in-law, Steve Neathery.

Vola Mae Bailey Bennett, 80, of Columbia, KY died Friday, July 31, 2020 at 3:35 A.M. at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville. She was born October 7, 1939 in Metcalfe County, KY to the late Luther Delphus “Plum” and Sallie Gertrude Dickson Bragg.
 
Vola was a member of Big Creek Missionary Baptist Church and retired from Carhartt.  
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Bailey; 1 brother, Earl Bragg and 1 sister & brother-in-law: Dottie & Gary Coffey.

Donald "Shorty" Barrett, 69, of Russell Springs, KY died Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at the VA Hospital in Lexington, KY. He was born on July 2, 1951 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Ola N. and Nannie Pearl Hagg Barrett. 
 
Donald was a truck driver and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Barrett and a brother-in-law, Jerry Bernard.

Joe Birdwell, 70, of Columbia, KY died Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on the Louie B. Nunn (Cumberland) Parkway in Russell County. He was born September 19, 1949 in Russell County to the late James Earl & Jessie Marie George Birdwell. 
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers: William, Phillip, David & James Birdwell and 1 sister, Eva Garner.  
 
Joe was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He sold produce and enjoyed fishing.

HETTIE BURTON, 75, EDINBURGH, INDIANA

 
Hettie E. Burton, 75, of Edinburgh, Indiana passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at her residence. She was born October 16, 1944 in Adair County, KY, the daughter of the late Elijah & Effie (Powell) Denton. 
 
Hettie was a founding member of the Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church in Edinburgh where she was record keeper for many years. She worked at Amos Plastics from 1966 until 1987. She loved all of her family. She was alto singer in the former gospel group, Egypt Quartet. She enjoyed fishing and cooking deserts, especially Cherry Delight and Oreo Dirt Pudding.
 
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Arnold Denton & Willey Denton, and 4 sisters: Birtie Cox, Dorinda Hadley, Annie Harmon, & Mary Denton.

Mr. Holt was a member of the Columbia Baptist Church and retired from GE in Louisville, KY.

Ronnie was a member of the Fairview Separate Baptist Church and a former employee of Fruit of the Loom.

Mildred Lucille Bardin, 92, of Louisville, KY (formerly of Columbia, KY) died Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Signature Health Care in Louisville, KY.  Born in Adair County, KY she was the daughter of the late Toby and Pearl Gadberry Mitchum and wife of the late Louis Robert Bardin.
 
Mrs. Bardin was of the Christian faith and enjoyed crocheting, quilting and the outdoors.
 
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Russell Bardin and a nephew, Harold “Mitch” Harvey.

Sammantha Danielle Greer McCarol, 20, of Knifley, KY died Sunday, July 26, 2020 at Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville, KY. Born in Campbellsville, KY she was the daughter of Jeff Greer (fiancée’ Betsy Harris) of Columbia and Hannah Coyt (Brian) of Alvaton, KY.
 
Sammantha was a member of the Hillvue Heights Church in Bowling Green, KY and enjoyed fishing, music and her pets.  Sammantha was crowned as Adair County’s millennium baby when she was born on January 3, 2000.
 
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, C. W. Greer.

AUTIC VIVAN LOY, 84, RUSSELL CO.

 
Autic Vivan Loy, 84, was born on November 6, 1935 in Russell County, KY to Vivan and Ruth (Warriner) Loy. He departed this life on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the U.K. Hospital in Lexington, KY.  
 
Autic was a self-employed livestock dealer and a partner in the Russell Co. Stockyards, Farmer Livestock Mkt. in Glasgow and Lake Cumberland Livestock Mkt. in Somerset. He loved every aspect of the cattle industry and enjoyed promoting it. He also enjoyed being on the farm and checking his livestock every day.
 
Autic made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of Fairview Separate Baptist Church. He never left a church service without thanking God for all He had done for him. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren.
 
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Dale Loy.

John A. “Johnny” Helm, 54, of Greensburg, KY son of Walter Helm and Patricia Godsey Thompson, was born June 25, 1966 in Taylor County, KY. He died at 10:34 A.M. on Thursday, July 23, 2020 in Louisville.      
 
John was an employee of Morgan Smith Industries in Columbia. He loved muscle cars and motorcycles and his hobbies included camping and drawing. He was artistic with wood and enjoyed woodworking.

Ina Jean Willis, 89, of Columbia, KY died Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Green Hills Rehabilitation in Greensburg after an illness. Born in Adair County she was the daughter of the late Mont and Mattie Morrison Willis.  
 
In addition to her parents, Ina Jean was preceded in death by a sister, Dimple Willis Howell and one nephew, Terry Howell.
 
She was a member of the Columbia United Methodist Church and a retired teacher having taught 37 years in the New Albany, Indiana school system.

GARY E. REXROAT, 72, FLORIDA

 
Gary Edward Rexroat, 72, of Trenton, Florida passed away Saturday, July 18, 2020 after an extended illness. He was born in Somerset, KY on May 25, 1948 to Ralph and Unema Rexroat. 
 
Gary was a member of the first Physician Assistants Program and the first graduating class of the Physician Assistants program at Duke University in 1972. He came to work at the University of Florida and later transferred into the U of F Rural Medicine Program with his first rotation in Cross City, then transferring to Trenton to expand the Rural Medical Program. After leaving the Rural Medical Program, he co-started the Chiefland Medical Center (with Ted Burt and Tammie Sanders). After selling the practice, he went back to the University of Florida, to the U.F.Health Clinic in Old Town and later moved back to Chiefland Medical Center.
 
Gary served 4 years in the U.S. Navy as a Corman serving in Vietnam and receiving a Bronze Star and 3 Purple Hearts and then served 10 years in the U.S. Army Reserves as a Warrant Officer. He was a member of the American Legion, William T. Carlton Masonic Lodge #46 in Trenton, the Physician Assistants Association serving as its 1st president, Health Planning Council, served on the Gilchrist County School Board for 20 years, and earned the Gilchrist County Lifetime Achievement Award.
 
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, sitting on the back porch and spending time with his family.

He was a former employee of Gaddie Shamrock and had served in the U.S. Army National Guard attaining the rank of Sergeant.

Mr. Green was a member of the Worldwide Church of God, a veteran of the U.S. Army and member of VFW Post 6097.  He was a self-taught musician, playing many instruments. He also enjoyed bird hunting and fishing.

Dennis was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He was also an intoxilyzer technician for the Kentucky State Police and a member of Dunnville Church of God.

Mrs. Price was a member of the Breeding United Methodist Church. She was a former employee of Oshkosh in Columbia and later enjoyed working on the farm.

 

Survivors include her husband: Robert Price, Jr. of Columbia; 2 sons: Matthew Corbin (Jamie) and Jesse Jace Price both of Columbia; 1 step-daughter: Elizabeth Grace Price of Lexington; 2 grandsons: Colton Riley Luttrell and Raydin Cash both of Columbia; 1 step-granddaughter: Jessica Lowe of Berea, KY; 1 sister: Pam Kay Dunbar Fudge of Columbia; 1 niece: Crystal Cain (Steve) of Somerset, KY; 1 great niece: Courtney Karnes (Josh) of Columbia and several cousins, friends and other relatives.

Phyllis Jo Rooks, 75, of Columbia, KY died Monday, July 13, 2020 at her home. Born in Columbia, KY she was the daughter of the late Lee “Bob” and Mary Lee Denton Carter.

 

Mrs. Rooks was a member of the Free Union Separate Baptist Church in the Sano Community and loved spending time with her family and friends.

Laura Ann Lynch, 70, of Russell Springs, KY passed away July 14, 2020 at her home. She was born September 9, 1949 to the late Elmo Mitchell & Anna Mary Everman Bradley.

 

Laura was a member of the Russell Springs United Methodist Church & served many years in the ministry of Celebrate Recovery and also in jail ministry. She was a faithful servant for Christ & a devoted mother, wife & friend.

Richard Lynn “Ricky” Hicks, 58, of Campbellsville, KY died Friday, July 10, 2020 at 9:50 P.M. at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born August 21, 1961 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Delmer and Edith Glover Hicks.

 

He was employed as a Screen Printer.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Devan Jean Hicks, 4 brothers: Howard, Larry, Phil and Russell Hicks and 4 sisters: Sue Miller, Carolyn Grammer, Wilma Abell and Ida Hicks.

Barbara Ann Edmonds, 81, of Russell Springs, died Saturday, July 11, 2020 at Fair Oaks Health & Rehab in Jamestown, KY. She was born August 18, 1938 in Russell County to the late Frank & Ila Emerson Lawless.

 

Barbara was retired from Fruit of the Loom and was a member of Mt. Eden Baptist Church.

Betty Lucille Fisher, 74, of Russell Springs, KY died Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Russell County Hospital. She was born March 9, 1946 in Adair County to the late Marvin & Effie Bunch Grider.

 

Betty attended Faith Temple Church and was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom. She has organized many benefits to help individuals pay funeral expenses, medical bills, etc. Betty has also organized an annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner in Russell County for the past 20 years with the help of many volunteers and businesses who donated food, money, etc. She worked tirelessly for people in our community who needed a helping hand and she will certainly be missed.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Eugene Grider & Junior Grider.

Marguerite Todd Grider, 102, of Columbia, KY passed away Sunday, July 5. 2020 in Campbellsville, KY. She was the daughter of the late Curt and Minnie Jones Stephens.

 

Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband, George Robert Todd on April 15, 1984 and later married Ernest Grider who preceded her in death on November 25, 2000.

Patsy Jean Berry, 84, of Wilson Creek Road in Elkhorn, KY, daughter of the late William Allen Taflinger and Ruby Arlene Lowry Taflinger, was born November 3, 1935 in Lexington, Indiana and departed this life on Friday, July 3rd, 2020 in Elkhorn.


Patsy had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a faithful member of Feathersburg First Church of God and a homemaker. She was a very loving mother, wife and a devoted Christian.


She was united in marriage to Roy Berry on November 16, 1956

Donna Gayle Hall, 63, of Greensburg, KY daughter of Zilphia Viola (Holcomb) Giles and the late Dewey Washington Giles, was born in Blackiston, Indiana on June 2, 1957. She departed this life on Thursday, July 2, 2020 in Elizabethtown at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

 

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Christian faith. It was a rarity indeed to have a dull moment around her; her beautiful smile and encouraging attitude lifted many spirits and created a constant joy within her family.

Sondra Denise Harris, 48, of Campbellsville, KY was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on May 9, 1972. She departed this life on Thursday, June 25, 2020 in Rochester, Minnesota at the Mayo Clinic.
 
Mrs. Harris had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. She was a department manager at Walmart and an avid University of Kentucky fan. She had an upbeat personality and was a classic cut-up; she loved dancing around the house with her grand kids, and was very gifted at lifting the spirits of everyone around.

TERRY COFFEY, 70, GLENSFORK

 
Terry Coffey, 70, of Glensfork, KY died Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 8:02 P.M. at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY. He was born April 4, 1950 in Adair County, KY to the late Thomas & Pauline Stone Coffey.  
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Coffey and his twin sister at birth.
 
SURVIVORS:
1 nephew: Jeremy Coffey of Columbia
1 sister-in-law: Judy Hatcher Coffey of Columbia
Special friends: Sandy and Annette Curry & family
 
Terry requested no visitation or funeral service and to be buried in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

RICKY ABSTON, 66, COLUMBIA

 
Ricky Abston, 66, of Columbia, KY died Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 12:10 P.M. at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. He was born August 22, 1953, in Adair County, KY to the late Beecher and Nora Shearer Abston.
 
Ricky was the owner of Abston Painting Service.  
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Ronald “Brownie” Abston & Charles “Granny” Abston.

3 sons: Bobby (Amy) Keys, Nicholas (Caitlin) Abston & Weston Abston, all of Columbia, KY

RAYDEAN PIERCE, 71, RUSSELL SPRINGS

 
Raydean Pierce, 71, of Russell Springs, KY passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY. She was born in Jamestown, KY on May 22, 1949 a daughter of the late Mary (Brumley) and William  Hall.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Pierce; 3 brothers: Glen, Clifton and John Hall; and 3 sisters: Pauline Hall, Judy Miller and Kathleen Earls.

IRVIN RIGNEY, 89, LAGRANGE


Irvin Rigney, 89, of Lagrange, KY passed away Sunday, June 28, 2020. He was a son of the late Frank and Edith Neat Rigney.

 

Irvin was retired from Teamsters Local 89 and was a member of The Hills Church of Campbellsburg, KY.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry C. Rigney; and 4 siblings: Pauline Scarce, Zelpha Gay Farris, J.W. Rigney, and Louise Long.

Wife of 66  years: Josephine Keltner Rigney

3 children: Jeanie Rigney Roemer (Mark), Rev. Randall Rigney (Ronda), Teresa Rigney Gill (Terry)

7 grandchildren: Rev. Nathanael Roemer (Sarah), Jennifer Aradhyula (Srinvas), Kristen Roemer, Travis Rigney, Maranda McKinney (James), Jonathon Rigney (Khrystyna), and Amanda Tucker (Chris)

10 great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Olivia, and Ava Roemer, Jeremiah and Arabella McKinney, and Savannah, Cheyenne, and Dawson Hackney, and Aaron Gopal and Byron Subbu Aradhyula

1  sister: Betty Akin

1 brother: Frank Rigney Jr.
