Frank Dickerson, 85, an Adair County native, was born August 27, 1934, a son of the late Tommy Jess and Letha Edna West Dickerson. He passed away on Friday, March 6, 2020 at Atria Senior Living in San Mateo, CA.

He was a Millwright-Ford Motor Company and a Veteran of US Navy. He was a member of Kellyville Community Church.
 
Preceded in death by his wife, Sue Carol Rexroat Blair.

Anna D Mann, 55, of Russell Springs, KY passed away Tuesday, March 24th, 2020 at Russell County Hospital. She was born in Albany, KY on September 1, 1964 a daughter of the late Bessie (Burchett) and Carl Birdwell.

NELLIE BRYANT, 95, COLUMBIA

 
Nellie Pearl Roberts Bryant, 95, of Columbia, KY died Friday, March 27, 2020 at the Summit Manor Nursing Home.  Born in Adair County she was the daughter of the late Acel and Laura Barrett Roberts and wife of the late Leonard Edgar Bryant.
 
Mrs. Bryant attended the New Hope Separate Baptist Church and loved quilting and gardening.

JACKIE MELSON, 66, ADAIR CO.

 
Jackie Melson, 66, of the Melson Ridge community of Adair County, KY died Sunday, March 22, 2020 at her home. She was born April 3, 1953, in Russell County, KY to the late Ezra and Lanie Cape Bunch.  
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Melson, on March 2, 2020.  
 
Jackie formerly worked at Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown as a Med Tech.

GEORGE HOWARD KELTNER, 88, COLUMBIA

 
George Howard Keltner, 88, of Columbia, KY died Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at his home. He was born June 13, 1931 in Adair County to the late Luther Gilbert & Anna Blaydes Keltner. 
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marine Strange, and two brothers, David & Richard Keltner.  
 
Howard was a member of Columbia United Methodist Church, where he was an usher for 14 years and attended the Kupples Sunday School Class, a United States Air Force Veteran, serving during the Korean War and a member of V.F.W. Post 6097.  He was a lifelong farmer and a dairy farmer for 41 years.

RUTH PICKETT MOORE, 89, GREEN CO.

 
Ruth Pickett Moore, 89, of Greensburg, KY died Thursday, March 26, 2020 at 12:12 A.M. at her home. She was born June 27, 1930 in Green County to the late J.W. and Eunice Orr Pickett. 
 
She married W.T. Moore on June 29, 1950 who preceded her in death on August 23, 1989. 
 
Ruth professed her faith in Christ and was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church and from an early age attended the Pickett’s Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a secretary and bookkeeper having worked for Skaggs Transfer and Lanham Hardwoods, served as Green County Circuit Clerk Deputy for many years, enjoyed sewing, quilting and needlepoint and having long phone conversations with her friends.  Known throughout the community for her wonderful pies, butterscotch and chocolate being her specialties, she was always baking a pie and taking them to her family and friends.

3 sisters-in-law: Wayne Pickett of Columbia, Helen Clark of Greensburg, Peggy Jones of Campbellsville

Lowell Walter Carter, 91, died Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, KY. He was born January 27, 1929 in Russell County to the late Dallas & Ona Shepherd Carter.
 
Lowell was a Veteran of U.S. Army and a carpenter.
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorean Faye Carter; 4 brothers, Colin, Bert, Javis, and Hollis Carter.

Janiave Black, 81, of Dunnville, KY passed away Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Liberty Care Center. She was born June 26 1938 in Liberty, KY, daughter of the late Milford Murphy and Mabel DeHart Wright.

 
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. 
 
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Wendell Murphy.

Jana Rae Grant Hayes, 65, of Campbellsville, KY died Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at the University Of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. Born in Adair County, KY she was the daughter of the late Robert Leland and Virginia “Jenny” Ferguson Grant. 
 
Mrs. Hayes was a member of the Tabernacle Christian Church.

Floyd J. Coomer, 87, died Tuesday, March 24, 2020 in Palos Hills, IL.  He was the beloved son of the late Daniel and Lula Coomer and beloved husband of the late Opal McClister Coomer.  
 
Floyd was a member of Masonic Lawn Lodge #815 for over 60 years.

Garnett Womack, 96, of Columbia, KY died Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Summit Manor Nursing Home in Columbia. He was born December 23, 1923 in Greenwood, Indiana to the late Luther & Effie Bottom Womack. 
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Flora Mae Koch Womack in 2017, two brothers, Charles & Paul Womack, and one sister, Norma Ivaskewitz. 
 
Garnett was a United States Army & Coast Guard Veteran, having served during WWII, and a member of the VFW & DAV.  He attended Columbia Baptist Church, was retired from Fruit of the Loom, an accomplished carpenter and a man of many different talents.

Ward Dowell Brockman, 75, passed away Friday, March 20, 2020 ar his home in Windsor, KY. He was born July 23, 1944 in Russell County to the late James (Ricey) and Audra Marie Wilson Brockman.
 
He was a member of Pine Top Church of Christ.

BURCHELL "BIRD" COUCH, 80, COLUMBIA

 
Burchell “Bird” Couch, 80, of Columbia, KY was born on February 12, 1940 in Harlan to the late Dave and Leona (Turner) Couch. He departed this life on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 in Glasgow at the T.J. Samson Hospital after an extended illness. 
 
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Church of Christ faith. Mr. Couch was a former logger and factory worker, and a lifetime farmer. He enjoyed working with his hands; hunting, fishing, and most things done outdoors are what he took pleasure in. He was a family man; his character and morals were a positive influence on his family, his friends, and his community.
 
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Burchell “Bub” Couch, Jr; and 6 siblings: Ralph Couch, Bige Couch, Bethel Couch, Sidney Couch, Mary Belle Couch, and Thelma Hart.

CHARLES "CORKEY" SALLEE, 90, RUSSELL SPRINGS

 
Charles "Corkey" Sallee, 90, of Russell Springs, KY died Monday, March 16, 2020 at Russell County Hospital. He was born April 9, 1929 in Taylor County, KY to the late Eslie & Flora Ruth Ford Sallee.
 
Mr. Sallee was a Veteran of the U.S. Army (Korean War). He worked at General Electric for 36 years in Louisville, KY,  was a member of Union Barrack Ades for 25 years (stage hand), a Kentucky Colonel, and was a member of the Jamestown United Methodist Church. Mr. Sallee was the original "Girl Dad" - his most treasured accomplishment. He loved to tell a good joke and loved mowing the lawn on his John Deere.

Roy Frank Radford, 85, of Columbia, KY died Monday, March 16, 2020 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.  Born in Cumberland County, KY he was the son of the late Willie Everett and Lovie Jane Long Radford and husband of the late Oma Marie Curry Radford.
 
Mr. Radford was a member of the Bearwallow United Methodist Church and attended the Millerfield Brethren in Christ Church. He was a member of the Hill & Valley Saddle Club and loved horses and trail riding.
 
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death a sister, Barbara Jean Curry.

GRACE MARIE BAILEY SPARKS, 94, CAMPBELLSVILLE (ADAIR CO. NATIVE)

 
Grace Marie Bailey Sparks, 94, of Campbellsville, KY daughter of the late Jerry Bailey and Loracy Wolford Bailey, was born May 26, 1925 in Adair County, KY.  She died at 10:58 P.M., Thursday, March 12, 2020 in Campbellsville.  
 
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Campbellsville Christian Church. Grace grew up in Roley, Kentucky and loved that community. A favorite outing was driving to the community and taking many trips down memory lane. Upon graduation from Knifley High school, she went to Louisville Beauty School and then returned to Adair County, where she was pursued by and then married her loving husband, Harlan. Job transfers took them alternately to Taylor County and Adair County where they enjoyed a life of friends, church and family over many decades. In later years, Wal-Mart became the destination of choice followed by a meal at whatever fast food location she had a coupon for and hadn’t been to in the last few days. Keeping in touch with friends by phone provided hours of news and updates in an ever changing world.  She was always hoping and anticipating one more family reunion.
 
She united in marriage to Harlan “Buster” Sparks November 24, 1949 and he preceded her in death June 6, 2012.

Lawrence Perkins, 77, of Jamestown, KY died Sunday, March 8, 2020 at the Russell County Hospital. He was born March 14, 1942 in Cortez, Colorado.
 
Mr. Perkins was a Veteran of the Army and a farmer.

GARON PARRISH, 85, COLUMBIA

 
Garon Parrish, 85, of Columbia, KY died Friday, March 6, 2020 at  T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY. Born in Adair County, KY he was the son of the late Roy & Lucy Jessee Parrish and husband of the late Lenora Brown Parrish.  
 
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Muriel Wilson Parrish, a son: Mark Parrish, and a brother: Audrey Parrish.
 
Mr. Parrish was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church and a former employee of Jeffries Hardware, working in the Electrical Department.  He was a board member for Kentucky Farm Bureau and he loved fishing and watching Kentucky Basketball.

Jerry W. Belcher, 73, of Windsor, KY died Friday, March 6, 2020 at 11:36 A.M. at his home after an illness. He was born November 14, 1946 in Dorton, Kentucky, to the late Homer and Nora Elkins Belcher.  
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Ann Belcher. 
 
Jerry served in the U.S. Army, was a former coal miner and of the Baptist faith.

Vanola B. Coomer Estes, 92, of Louisville, KY (formerly of Columbia, KY) passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2020 at her residence with her family by her side. Born in Adair County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Newton and Lula Alfred Turner Coomer and wife of the late Thomas Wesley “T.W.” Estes, Sr. 
 
Mrs. Estes was a member of the Trinity World Outreach Church in Louisville, KY and formerly attended the Columbia Church of God.  She loved spending time and traveling with her family, attending church, reading the bible, working puzzles, quilting and crocheting.
 
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 2 children: Barbara Jean Estes and Thomas Wesley Estes, Jr.; 2 brothers: Vanus Ray Coomer and Herbert Lee Coomer; and 3 sisters: Annie Mae Petty, Dorothy Pelston and Edith Gowen.

Judith Ann Galbreath, 77, of Jamestown, KY passed away Saturday, February 29th, 2020 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Judith was born in Elwood, IN on August 11, 1942, a daughter of the late Ida (Morgan) and Verl Forr.

Gordon L. Smith, 85, of Columbia, KY died Monday, March 2, 2020 at 8:58 A.M. at the T.J. Samson Hospital in Glasgow. He was born July 12, 1934, in Adair County, KY to the late Tom and Mary Frances Furkins Smith.  

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Diane Smith, 5 brothers: Rufus, Garnett, Richard, James and Davis Allen Smith, and 4 sisters: Dorothy Perry, Louise Stotts, Jewell Hardin and Shirley Gilpin.  

 

Gordon was a member and Deacon Emeritus of Columbia Baptist Church, a U.S. Army Veteran, formerly employed by Ingersoll Rand and a farmer.
