Zena Carolyn Padgett, 83, of Columbia, KY passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown, KY. She was born in Adair County on February 18, 1942, to the late Nolan Ray and Eunema Gaskins Roberts.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Allen Padgett; two children: Ricky Padgett and Anita Parker; and a brother, Lemuel Roberts.


Mrs. Padgett was of the Christian faith and enjoyed cooking, sewing and spending time with her family and friends.

Dwain (Dude) West, 64, of Russell Springs, KY passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Danville, KY. He was born in Somerset, KY on July 3, 1961, a son of Amon West of Jamestown, KY and the late Mae (McQueary) West.

 

Dwain was a farmer.

Elijah Dewayne “Eli” Russell, 11, of Russell Springs, KY passed from this life on Friday morning, December 26, 2025 at his home. He was born on February 7, 2014 in Somerset, a son of Jamie and Sarah Jo Mann Russell.

 

Eli was full of life; his smile would lighten the room and bring joy to everyone around him. He loved his family, especially his Mommy, Daddy, and his Nanny. Eli was a big Mickey Mouse and Blippi fan.

Anna Ruth Barnett, 80, of LaGrange, KY passed away Thursday, December 25, 2025 at The Springs at Oldham Reserve in LaGrange. She was born on June 5, 1945 in Adair County to the late John Marion and Linnie Hardwick Grant.


She was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Grant.

 

Mrs. Barnett was a member of the Pee Wee Valley Seventh Day Adventist Church and enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and spending time with her family and friends.

Sallie M. Cook, 93, of Knifley, KY died Friday, December 26, 2025 at the home of her daughter. She was born September 13, 1932 in Taylor County to the late Millard Lee and Artie Mae Janes England.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Lee Cook, Sr.; a daughter, Connie Perkins; a great-grandchild, Austin Brice Cook; five brothers: J.T. England, Kenneth England, Lynwood England, Millard Lee England, Jr., and Bobby England; and a sister, Eora Tucker. 


Mrs. Cook was a homemaker and a life-long member of Plum Point Baptist Church.

Harold Eugene “Jack” Atchley, 83, of Columbia, KY passed away Thursday, December 25, 2025 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY. He was born in Russell County, KY on September 18, 1942 to the late John and Nettie Grider Atchley.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Lora Lynn Huff Atchley; a brother, Obie Atchley; a sister, Dolene Hoover; and a granddaughter, Kaylan Bryant.

 

Mr. Atchley attended the Freedom Church of God and was a hard-working farmer that instilled those qualities in his three daughters. When not farming, he enjoyed woodworking, being outdoors and spending time with his family and friends.

JD McKinney, 88, of Breeding, KY died Thursday, December 25, 2025 in Lexington, KY. He was born on March 6, 1937 in Adair County to the late Ray and Delpha Coomer McKinney.
 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Genette Tweedy McKinney on March 4, 2025, and the following siblings: Alfred McKinney, Ruby England and Betty Bean.

 

Mr. McKinney was retired from Columbia Adair County Utilities District, had previously worked at IMO Industries, drove a van for Wilkerson Transport, and was a farmer.

Millard Eldon Kinnett, 98, Columbia, KY


Millard Eldon Kinnett, 98, of Columbia, KY passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. He was born in Jamestown, KY on July 21, 1927 to the late Hollie and Noma Antle Kinnett.
 

Millard professed faith in Jesus Christ and was of the Separate Baptist faith. He completed basic training in the US Army and was honorably discharged when World War II ended. He worked at Wolf Creek Dam, Fire Stone Tire and Rubber, and spent the last 65 years doing the work he loved as a farmer. 

 

He cherished time with family and friends, and found joy in church services, revivals, farming, sports, cooking, and gardening. Family and friends were blessed by his weekly visits and the garden vegetables, apples, and other foods he purchased to share. Pa Kinnett especially loved and was loved by children who were drawn to his warm smile, fun happy spirit, and the Juicy Fruit gum, candy, and other treats he shared.  He lived his belief that faith, family, friendships, integrity, and hard work defined a life well lived. He never met a stranger, only friends.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Maxine Kinnett; mother-in-law, Martha Kinnett; two sons: Daryl Kinnett and infant son, Dwayne Kinnett; one grandson, Brandon Kinnett; two daughters-in-law: Donna and Patty Kinnett; two brothers: Kermit and Curtis Kinnett; three sisters: Ruby Donald, Mae and Ruth Kinnett; and maternal grandmother & step-grandfather: Edward and Leler Helm Bradshaw (who raised him and his brother Kermit after his mother’s death).

William Wayne “Fatboy” Crockett, 75, of Columbia, KY passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at T.J. Health Columbia. He was born on August 18, 1950 in Jamestown, KY, a son of the late James Frank Crockett and Clara Frances Wigginton Crockett.
 

Wayne was a heavy equipment operator, working as a truck driver, logger, and for various road departments. Wayne loved talking to his friends over the channels on his CB radio, using his handle, “Fatboy”. He always enjoyed telling stories to anyone who would take the time to listen to him.

Audie Rich, 102, of Bowling Green, KY died Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Massey Springs in Bowling Green. He was born March 3, 1923 in Adair County, to the late O.L. and Martha Ether Sapp Rich. 
 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Celestine Ellis Rich on March 25, 2014 and the following siblings: Pina Lee Pyles, Jewell Dick, Hilda Davidson, Nadine Giles, Evelyn Bolt, Zella B. Cundiff, Herbert Rich, Dennis Rich and James Rich.

 

Mr. Rich was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in World War II and a retired businessman, operating Cambridge Tile Company in Cincinnati, Ohio for many years. He was recognized as Veteran of the Year in 2024 by the V.F.W. in Bowling Green.

Elna Kathleen Thompson, 89, Columbia, KY

 

Elna Kathleen Thompson, 89, of Columbia, KY, daughter of the late James Oliver and Annie Cecil (Bault) Long, was born in Adair County on November 5, 1936. She departed this life on Monday, December 22, 2025 at her home.

 

She was the devoted wife to Mr. William Russell Thompson who precedes her in death. Mrs. Thompson had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Yuma Baptist Church. She will be long remembered for her kind heart, her love for her cats, and the simple, heartfelt joy she got from shopping at Walmart.

Daniel Joseph Young, 71, of Columbia, KY died Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville. He was born on September 24, 1954 in Oldham County, KY.

 

Daniel was a retired truck driver.

George Kenneth Humes, 90, Tompkinsville, KY

 

George Kenneth Humes, 90, passed away Monday December 22, 2025 at Signature Health Care in Tompkinsville, KY, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 18, 1935 in Monroe County, a son of the late Anna Lee Humes.

 

Kenneth, often called George by his friends, was well known around town. He was a gifted carpenter, turning out beautiful pieces of furniture, or just lending a hand helping others build what was needed. Later he worked for the Monroe County School System as a custodian and then as a groundskeeper, until his retirement. Kenneth was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed bluegrass music and for many years could be found on Sunday evenings next to his radio listening to a local Bluegrass Radio Show. Kenneth was a kind, soft-spoken man; a wonderful husband, father, and papa that will be dearly missed by his family.

His beloved wife of 48 years: Mary Scott Coots of Tompkinsville

Mollie Selby, 86, of Jamestown, KY passed away Friday, December 19 2025 at Fair Oaks Nursing Home. She was born on June 15, 1939 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Rosa Nell Antle Lawless and Ora Clyde Lawless.
 

Mollie was a retired teacher's aide and member of Fairview Separate Baptist Church. She worked as a volunteer at the University of Louisville with the children and was eventually hired as a teacher's aid. She was a big part in getting a school for special needs children. Mollie worked with the board of education in Louisville for 27 years. She was a volunteer for the Special Olympics and the Olympics Star Square Dance group. She was dedicated to her daughter, taking her to numerous country music shows where she met singers and obtained several autographs.

JB Satterwhite, affectionately called “Pops”, age 71, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025 at the Russell County Hospital. He was born on May 30, 1954 at Kings Daughters Hospital in Frankfort, KY, the son of the late JB and Elizabeth Satterwhite. 

 

JB was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who truly lived for his family. He was a proud Christian and a member of Farmdale Christian Church. He was married to his loving wife, Naomi Satterwhite, and together they built a family full of love and memories. JB was retired from the Frankfort Sewer Department where he was known as a dependable, hard- working man. He truly embraced life – whether it was fishing, golfing, spending time on the lake or being surrounded by his family. Those were the times he loved the most. JB was funny, outgoing, and always the mediator, always the calm in the middle of any storm. To his family, he wasn’t just “Pops”, he was their “Superman” who was always there, always steady and always strong. JB’s legacy lives on in the stories told, the laughter shared, and the deep love he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed and his memory forever cherished.

John Murry Ballou, 83, of Columbia, KY passed away Friday, December 19, 2025 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY surrounded by his family. He was born in Adair County on August 9, 1942 to the late Estel and Mary Hunter Ballou.

 

Mr. Ballou was a member of the Columbia Christian Church, former Adair County Sheriff and Deputy Sheriff from 1986-1999, and served in the United States Army. John was known as a loving husband, father and grandfather that would help anyone in need. He was a great storyteller and never met a stranger. He loved working on his farm and raising beef cattle.

Lilburn Earl Grant, 83, of Columbia, KY passed away Thursday, December 18, 2025 at his residence. He was born on October 11, 1942 in Adair County to the late Walter Jennings and Ruby Beard Grant.

 

Mr. Grant was also preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Jean Gaskins Grant and two brothers: Joe and Victor Grant.

 

Mr. Grant regularly attended New Hope Separate Baptist Church and completed two tours in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, serving with the 101st Airborne Division “Screaming Eagles”. Geneva Walters, 93, of Jamestown, KY passed away peacefully Thursday, December 11, 2025 at her home. She was born in Jamestown, KY on April 15, 1932, a daughter of the late Lizzie (Warriner) and Robert Helm.

She was a longtime member of Fairview Separate Baptist Church in Jamestown. Employed by the Russell County School System for 20+ years, mainly at Union Chapel Elementary, loved the outdoors, maintaining her yard, garden and flowers. She was well known for her cooking/baking, even at church functions where her crockpot dressing and apple rolls were among the first to go. She lived her life with decency and kindness. Faith, family and friends sustained her.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to a great team of medical providers who cared for Geneva over the last year: Family Practice Associates of Russell County, Lifeline of Russell County, Russell County Wound Care, Russell County Hospital and Hospice of Lake Cumberland- Alvina, Kim, Elizabeth and Hannah.

Melvin Coleman Antle, 84, of Columbia, KY passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at his residence. He was born on June 27, 1941 in Russell Springs, KY to the late Marcus and Nannie Simpson Antle.


Mr. Antle was a member of the Sano Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and song leader. He also was a member of The Gideons and enjoyed fishing, trading cars and spending time with his family and friends.

Thelma Lee Toy, 71, of Columbia, KY passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at her residence with her family by her side. She was born in Knoxville, TN on January 3, 1954 to the late Tony McGhee and Edna McGinnis McGhee Wolfe.
 

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wayman; three sisters: Patsy Bean (Shirley), Rhonda Kinser (Al) and Barbara McGee (Bill) and a brother-in-law, Bennett Fuselier.

 

Mrs. Toy was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends especially her grandson. 

 

Survivors include one daughter, Brandy Farrell of Columbia, KY; a grandson, Sean Farrell of Columbia, KY; seven siblings: Brenda Gayle Zinn (Daryl), Gary McGhee (Linda), Mary Davis (David), Lola Phillips (Thomas), Jonnie Fuselier, Frank Wolfe, and Raymond O’Dell; and several nieces and nephews.

 

The family is honoring Mrs. Toy’s wishes of cremation and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Randall Lee Estes, 84, Jamestown, KY (formerly of Columbia)

 

Randall Lee Estes, 84, formerly of Columbia, KY passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Fair Oaks Health and Rehabilitation in Jamestown. He was born on October 9, 1941 at his grandparents’ home in Cumberland County, KY, a son of the late Stanley and Gladys Smith Estes. 
 

Randall served proudly in the United States Army as a Medical Specialist from 1964 to 1970. He later worked as a CNA at the old Columbia Hospital. Randall was also the” grill man” at Richard Wethington’s pool room for more than 20 years. He then worked for Four Seasons Apartments, doing maintenance work, again for more than 20 years.

 

Survivors include his wife, Irene Dick Estes of Jamestown; Sherry Broyles of Bowling Green; two sisters: Betty (and Raymond) Grey of Campbellsville and Cathy Withers of Windsor; two nieces: Jenni (and Andrew) Godbey and Kim (and Leo) Johnson both of Windsor; three great-nieces: Gracie Johnson, Morgan Weddle, and Abigail Godbey; three great-nephews: Landon Weddle, Jacob Weddle, and Luke Johnson; and a special friend, Keith Pierce of Jamestown.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Estes, a stepson, Steve Luttrell, and brother-in-law, Roger Withers.

 

Cremation rites were honored, according to Randall’s wishes.

 

A Memorial service and inurnment will be held later at Wilkerson Cemetery, with the date and time announced by the funeral home.

Elisabeth Panecasio, 88, of Russell Springs, KY passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025. She was born in Sudentenland on July 21, 1937, a daughter of the late Wilhelm and Frida Wagner of Vienna, Austria.

 

She immigrated to the United States early in her life to start her new family.

Elisabeth was known for her compassion with animals. She would welcome and take care of any animal in need.  She loved to paint and to tend to her annual vegetable garden.  She loved being outdoors and enjoying the beauty of nature, especially flowers.

Bobby Dean Kelsay, 76, of Campbellsville, KY passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Taylor Regional Hospital. He was born on April 13, 1949 in Gadberry, KY to the late Paul and Alene Kimbler Kelsay. 

 

Mr. Kelsay was of the Christian faith and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed being outdoors, mowing, tinkering in his garage, riding horses, playing softball and spending time with his family and friends.

Mr. Smith was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed rebuilding cars, woodworking and liked to keep busy and tinker in his shed. He was a man of many talents and learned all his trades from his dad. Ronnie Ashley “Butch” Bernard, 74, of Russell Springs, KY passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at his home on the farm of his grandparents. He was born March 27, 1951, a son of the late Johnny Green and Martha Stephens Bernard. 

 

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Sandy Stephens Bernard.

 

Butch graduated with the Russell County High School Class of 1969. He was reared, lived, and died within one mile of the farm on which he was born. Except for recent hospital stays, he spent very few nights in his 74 years away from Bernard Ridge.  

 

Butch attended Somerset Vocational School, attended Bernard Ridge Church of God, was on the board of Lucinda Cemetery, worked as a carpenter and at Fruit of the Loom, and was an avid reader; but his vocation was as a farmer. He cherished farm life with his wife, the late Sandy Stephens Bernard. In addition to growing tobacco, hay, soybeans, vegetable gardens, and flowers, Butch’s love and passion was his animals from his childhood horse, Old Dutch, to the dogs, cats, cows, rabbits, chickens, and donkeys to whom he provided devoted care until his death.

Carron Mae Nehez, 79, Russell Springs, KY

 

Carron Mae Nehez, 79, of Russell Springs, KY (formerly of Martinsville, Indiana), passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at her son’s home in Martinsville, where she was lovingly cared for by her family. She was born on April 3, 1946 in Russell Springs, KY to the late Garnett Raymond McBeath and Bernice Mattie (Ragle) Miller.

 

She spent her childhood in Russell Springs before moving to Indiana in 1965 to begin her career. That same year, she started working for General Motors in Indianapolis, where she devoted 25 years of service before retiring in 1990 and returning to her beloved hometown.

 

Carron found joy in life’s simple blessings. She had a special talent and love for vegetable and flower gardening, crafting, and she cherished time spent attending the Annual 127 Sale with her family. She also adored her cats, who were constant companions throughout her life. After returning to Kentucky, Carron opened her own craft store, Craft Corner, which she proudly operated for more than a decade.

Edward Rooks, 76, of Columbia, KY passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at the Russell County Hospital.  He was born on December 20, 1948 in Adair County, a son of the late John and Pearl Bryant Rooks.
 

Edward worked as a drywall installer for over 40 years.  He spent most of his time working, but when he did take time off, he enjoyed coon hunting and horseback riding.

Rudy K. Higginbotham, 79, of Columbia, KY passed away Friday, December 5, 2025 at the V.A. Hospice Cottages in Lexington, KY. He was born in Ono, KY on January 24, 1946 to the late Raymond and Ertress Flanagan Higginbotham. 
 
Mr. Higginbotham was a member of the Columbia Christian Church, formerly serving as an Elder and Deacon. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army. Rudy was an active member of the community, retiring as Soil Conservationist for the USDA, and served as a former board member of the Adair County Water District and Airport Board. He enjoyed restoring antique farm equipment and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Nedra Mae Francis, 62, of Russell Springs, KY passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset. She was born on January 29, 1963 in Jamestown, KY, the youngest child of the late Otha and Elizabeth Cole Byrd. 

 

Nedra worked formerly as a sewing machine operator at Fruit of the Loom and then went on to obtain an associate’s degree in early childhood education. She enjoyed growing flowers and loved spending time with her family playing card games and watching movies. Nedra attended Jennies Chapel Methodist Church.

Mrs. Harris was a devoted housewife and mother. She loved and rendered her given talent to playing guitar for her family and friends until sickness robbed her ability to play. She loved pranking jokes on people, mainly her daughters, to ensure laughter and humor. She was adamant in her decisions in life and always there in support for her family. Mavadene made a profession of faith in Christ on July 21, 1956. Her membership resides with Old Liberty Community Church on Hwy 92 in Russell Springs.

4 stepdaughters: Debbie Edwards, Nelda Beard, Tonya Young & their families of Campbellsville; and Lisa Land & husband of Louisville

1 brother: Jerry D. Roy (and Paula) of Russell Springs

4 grandchildren: Kelly Loy (and Patrick) of Jamestown, Jamie Reichardt (and Arthur) of Buda, Texas, Megan Chapman (and David) of Nashville, Tennessee, and Dylan Antle (and Elizabeth) of Russell Springs

6 great-grandchildren; 3 step great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; & 9 step great-great-grandchildren

 

In addition to her parents, Mavadene was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Harris, who passed away on March 7, 2010.

Jewel Hadley Lunsford, 81, of Columbia, KY died Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at TJ Health Columbia. She was born on February 22, 1944 in Adair County to the late Claude and Sally Bryant Hadley.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Lunsford, Sr.; her son, Floyd Lunsford, Jr.; and by three brothers and six sisters.

Margie R. Barnes, 90, of Jamestown, KY passed away Sunday, November 30, 2025 at home, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Willow Shade, KY on June 26, 1935, a daughter of the late Flolene (Sartin) and William Thomas Rigsby.

 

She was a long-time educator, Russell County School board member, and a member of the Russell Chapter #432 Order of the Eastern Star.

Marshall G. Wooldridge, 81, of Russell Springs, KY passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Campbellsville, KY. He was born on February 16, 1944 in Russell Springs, a son of the late Nell Shearer Wooldridge and Porter Elmer Wooldridge.


He was a long time truck driver for 44 years, both local and cross country. Marshall loved trucks and truck driving. He also loved June's family and he loved the Lord Jesus Christ. Marshall attended Fairview Baptist Church in Russell Springs. He loved his church and his Pastor, Bro. Bill Mullins. Marshall will be greatly missed by everyone, especially June.

Richard Eugene Davis, 59, Louisville, KY

 

Richard Eugene Davis, 59, of Louisville, KY passed away Saturday, November 29, 2025 at his residence. He was born in Lebanon, KY on April 2, 1966 to the late William Dale “Pete” Davis and Mary Childers Davis of Columbia, KY (who survives).

 

Mr. Davis was of the Christian faith and a graduate of Adair County High School and Lindsey Wilson College. He was an avid University of Louisville fan and enjoyed collecting things, listening to music, making everyone laugh with his wit and dad jokes, and spending time with all his family and friends.
